How we test the accessible.ie site
Using the Website Accessibility Conformance Evaluation Methodology (WCAG-EM) approach, we assessed the website using a combination of manual and automated tests.
We use automated tests such as ARC Toolkit and Axe Devtools and accessibility tools provided by WEBAIM to audit the website.
Our manual tests included keyboard-only navigation and Screen Reader testing using MacOS VoiceOver.
How we are going to improve accessibility on this website
Accessible.ie is currently compliant with WCAG 2.1. Our goal is to reach compliance with the latest version – WCAG 2.2.
We will ensure that new and updated content follows accessibility best practice including –
- Plain language will be used throughout the website
- Images will have accessible alt text descriptions
- There is appropriate colour contrast used
- Programmatically determined content will be used over images of text where possible
